ReadCoor is collaborating with an IARPA (Intelligence Advanced Research Projects Activity) funded research consortium of top-tier universities and labs to advance the study of neural connections in the brain. The project is sponsored by IARPA’s MICrONS (Machine Intelligence from Cortical Networks) research program. The purpose of MICrONs is to reverse-engineer brain algorithms to enhance machine learning. The ReadCoor team is using FISSEQ to decode the synaptic connections in a large brain volume, with the goal of transforming the fields of neuroscience and machine intelligence. The consortium includes the Wyss Institute for Biologically Inspired Engineering at Harvard University, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Columbia University, and Cold Spring Harbors Lab.
Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation
ReadCoor is using FISSEQ to understand the causes of childhood mortality in developing countries in partnership with the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation. The project centers on the development of FISSEQ-based analytical tools to find pathogens in tissue directly from their genomes and transcriptomes. Current diagnostic methods tediously search hundreds of samples to determine the cause of mortality. FISSEQ’s unique capability to sequence cells and tissues in situ will help researchers employ spatial data to rapidly determine the cause of mortality and provide earlier interventions.
WAVE Life Sciences
ReadCoor is partnering with WAVE Life Sciences to advance the development of central nervous system therapeutics. Researchers at ReadCoor are using FISSEQ to develop a mouse brain cell map that scientists at WAVE will use to characterize stereopure nucleic acid candidates in specific regions, cell types, and subcellular compartments of the brain.
